And what better way to begin the rest of our lives than sharing with you a spectacular New Year treat!
If you're wondering what an award-winning photographer does with her talents, just take a moment to feast your eyes on the remarkable work of Sylvia Valentine.
Sylvia is a Santa Cruz treasure. Through her artistic photographer's eye, she witnesses remarkable scenes all around her, and then takes action to immortalize them with a combination of singular skill and a camera.
"I love capturing the spirit of a place, often using close angles and light to bring a magical, unique perspective," says Sylvia. After you've viewed her work, you'll see the splendid heights she reaches in attaining her goal.
Sylvia is generous with her talent, releasing her formidable photographic abilities to others as a way to enrich our world. She says, "I'm a huge advocate of sharing our creative pursuits and exploring our inner artist no matter what our 'day job' might be. I love embracing both right and left brain aspects of myself (artist and organization project manager). I'm honored to contribute a portion of all photo sales to environment and spiritual-centered non-profits I know, and with whom I have personally worked."
And the aforementioned awards? They're definitely nothing to sneeze at! Voted Best Photographer in Santa Cruz County for three years running is something Sylvia truly earned, as you'll see when you take a look at her work. In fact, her photo,"Pleasure Point Surfer," was selected out of 33,000 entries for the 2014 Nature Conversancy calendar. Quite an honor -- and well-deserved!
